Award Winning Director To Attend Highland Film Festival
Lebanese Canadian film director, Yasmin Fedda, who recently won the prestigious Black Pearl Award in Abu Dhabi (£46,000) with her film “Breadmakers – will be showing her film at the second Kingussie Food on Film Festival, February 6th-7th 2009.

The Colmcille Poetry Prize

Highland Alternative Music Showcase
On Thursday the 11th of December some of the Highlands most promising young bands and solo artists will be playing alongside very special guests, Alt-rock instrumentalists Shutter. The gig will take place in the Highlands premier venue, The Ironworks, Inverness. This showcase is in celebration of the end of Highland Alternative Music’s very successful A.M.P project.

£45,000 for young people’s arts projects in Scotland
Clydebank Housing Association, Tramway and The Village Storytelling Centre have each secured £15,000 funding for arts projects aimed at vulnerable young people aged between 10 and 19 years. The three organisations took part in an innovative event called Art of the Pitch in Glasgow on Monday 1st December. Six shortlisted arts organisations took to the stage to present engaging sponsorship pitches hoping to attract £15,000 to their projects.

James MacMillan flies the flag for Scotland in Awards Ceremony
The winners of the 2008 British Composer Awards were announced yesterday, Tuesday 2 December 2008, in a ceremony hosted by the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters at the Law Society. A special programme devoted to the Awards is broadcast on BBC Radio 3 In Tune on Wednesday 3 December at 7.00pm. Now in its sixth year, the Awards are sponsored annually by the Performing Right Society (PRS), and are run in association with BBC Radio 3. This year the key-note comments at the Awards were given by well-known composer/producer Nitin Sawhney who also presented the winners with their awards.

WASPS Studios Has Inverness In Sights
The charity WASPS studios which provides artists' studios across Scotland is looking to provide studio space in the Highlands and Islands and Stirlingshire.  WASPS Studios has forged a £3 million partnership with the Scottish Arts Council to develop at least five new studios in the next five years.
